St. Luke’s Choir

There has always been a choir at St Luke's, Queens Park, Brighton and the church has always
been proud of its choral tradition. In the early years, the choir consisted of men and boys,
but in more recent times the choir has become a mixed choir.

There are currently around 25 members but new members are always welcome.
New members can join the choir for rehearsals on Thursday evenings (7.30pm to 9pm)
on a trial basis, after which ongoing membership can be discussed with the Director of Music.
There is no formal audition process.

The choir sings at the weekly service on a Sunday morning at 10am and always performs an anthem during communion. The choir also sings regular choral evensongs. Other regular features include the annual Advent Carol Service, Epiphany Carol Service and a performance of the Passion on Palm Sunday. Occasional concerts and ad hoc engagements are undertaken. The choir has recorded 3 CDs in recent years which are available to purchase. In the past the choir sang at the cathedrals of Chichester, Winchester, Salisbury, Wells, Bristol and Portsmouth.
